Vehicles in German Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers mentioned they were notified by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Police report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.

The substance had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they added.

Law enforcement then found many other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the liquid was most likely human blood.

"There is still no lead as to its source; authorities are not yet informed of any physical harm in association with the event," they added.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the public for tips.

A senior representative said the attack left him stunned and had to be solved promptly.

"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a gunman focusing on residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
